WHAT IS TRI-M? Tri-M Music Honor Society, formerly known as Modern Music Masters, is an American high school and middle school music honor society. A program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), it is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements and to provide leadership and service opportunities to young musicians. There are approximately 6,200 participating chapters in several countries, each of which is run by the students but supervised by an advisor or sponsor, usually a school teacher. MIRA COSTA TRI-M REQUIREMENTS Mira Costa's Tri-M Music Honor Society is open to current Mira Costa Band, Choir, and Orchestra students in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade (freshmen are ineligible to join). In order to be eligible for Mira Costa Tri-M membership, you must have a cumulative (9-12) academic GPA of, at minimum, 3.0 (unweighted) and have received a grade of 90% or above in your music class during the last school year.
